The Pro-Ject CD Box DS3 is a high-end compact CD player and the first model in Pro-Ject's DS3 line. Built around a rigid aluminium chassis, a precision-suspended Stream Unlimited drive and a Texas Instruments PCM1796 DAC, it's designed to get every last detail from your CD collection, while digital outputs let you use it as a transport with an external DAC too.

Key Features:

  • Texas Instruments PCM1796 DAC
  • Stream Unlimited Blue Tiger CD-80 servo and drive
  • Rigid aluminium housing for precise laser positioning
  • Resonance-optimised drive suspension
  • Tuned for true Red Book CD-DA playback
  • Analogue RCA output plus optical and coaxial digital outputs
  • High-contrast dot-matrix display
  • Remote control included
  • Handmade in Europe

Rigid Aluminium Housing

Thin sheet-metal housings simply aren't stiff enough to keep a CD laser perfectly positioned. The CD Box DS3 uses a solid aluminium chassis to give the Stream Unlimited Blue Tiger CD-80 drive the stable platform it needs for accurate, consistent reading.

A Perfect Resonance Derivative

The drive sits on three soft mounting points that isolate it from external vibration, plus one hard point that channels the high-frequency vibration created by the laser's own movement away into the chassis. The result is a cleaner, more stable signal.

True Red Book Playback

The drive is optimised for 1:1 playback of the Red Book CD-DA standard. A dedicated CD player like the DS3 will often outperform a DVD or Blu-ray player with stereo CDs, because everything is focused on doing one job exceptionally well.

Analogue & Digital

Use the built-in PCM1796 DAC and connect the RCA line output straight to your amplifier, or use the optical or coaxial S/PDIF outputs to feed an external DAC and use the CD Box DS3 as a high-quality transport.

Handmade in Europe

Like Pro-Ject products since 1991, the CD Box DS3 is built in Europe by experienced staff, with a focus on durability and a long product life. Front-panel buttons, the supplied remote and a high-contrast dot-matrix display make everyday use simple.
